The 26th Annual Marin County Farm Day is an education event for students grades K-6. Over 25 exhibitors provide educational activities to children, teachers, and parents. This year’s Farm Day theme is: Udderly Marin Cows. Between 1,000 to 2,000 children, teachers and parents attend.
This event is a collaborative effort made possible by the following agencies: Marin Center/Marin County Fair & Exposition, Marin County Farm Bureau, Marin County Office of Education, Golden Gate Farmers Market, North Bay Dairy Women, Marin Farmers Market, Marin County Department of Weights and Measures, and the University of California Cooperative Extension/Master Gardener/4-H.
Activities at this Site
Northern California ranchers, growers, producers, and educators provide interactive exhibits on agriculture, health, farm animals, gardens and environmental education. One of the highlights will be the Dairy Council of California’s mobile dairy classroom, with a cow-milking demonstration. Children learn about worms and ladybugs, how to plant seeds, can see and touch sheep, cows, llamas, chickens, rabbits, ponies and more. There is also an art and essay contest with awards for winning entries for elementary students.

Children learn about composting, planting, how bees are beneficial, how to attract butterflies to a garden, healthy foods to eat, how food is grown, how to care for animals and pets, and more.
The venue, Marin Center/Marin County Fair & Exposition, is well-known as a green facility that recycles a very high percentage of its waste. It also hosts “The Greenest Fair on Earth” in late June/early July.
