About this Event
The Kinetic Grand Championship is a 42-mile bicycle race over land, sand, mud, and water over a span of three days. The race runs along California’s northern coast from Arcata to Ferndale. It started in 1969 and has since spread across the United States and even Australia.
Participants race in “Kinetic Sculptures,” which are human-powered art sculptures that can travel through a variety of terrain. Teams consist of pilots, a pit crew, and pee-ons. Sculptures are judged and awards are given to teams upon completion of the race.
While in the area, visit the Kinetic Sculpture Museum on Main Street to see past sculptures and race results.
