The historic Langtry Estate & Vineyards spans 35 square miles of picturesque terrain and hundreds of acres of prime vineyards–where the grapes are grown for award-winning wines, including Petite Sirah and Sauvignon Blanc. The estate was once owned by famed actress Lillie Langtry, who purchased the property in 1888 and produced what she called the greatest Claret in the Country. Remains of Lillie’s winery and one lone Syrah vine still reside at the Tephra Ridge Vineyard. Visitors may enjoy a historic tour of the Guenoc Valley or lunch at the Tephra Ridge Vineyard.
Today, the winery’s Petite Sirah has won more gold medals and best-of-show awards than any other Petite Sirah in the world. A tour of the winery reveals innovative winemaking techniques, while the Tephra Ridge Vineyard Lunch Tour travels to a high-elevation vineyard where lunch is served along with a tasting of Langtry Estate and Guenoc wines, all overlooking the spectacular Guenoc Valley. The lunch tour is offered by advance reservation only, Tuesday through Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m (cost $45 per person).
