Pine Mountain Lookout – Mendocino National Forest
Pine Mountain Lookout was originally constructed in 1933 to protect area lumber mills from fire. This historic lookout remained in operation through the mid-1940’s. Today, visitors to the Mendocino National Forest may rent this historic lookout for overnight use. Reservations can be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service, http://www.Recreation.gov. This lookout is accessible by road and is located approximately 20 miles north of the town of Upper Lake, and approximately 9 miles south west of Lake Pillsbury Recreation Area, on the Upper Lake Ranger District.
