When Gerald Ployez left France for the United States, he brought his oenology education and a taste of his homeland, Champagne, with him to make Lake County’s first sparkling wine. Once in the United States, Gerald met and married Shirley, and the Ployez family moved to Lake County and established Ployez Winery in 1997.
In addition to its Ployez Sparkling Brut, which is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, Ployez produces a Gamay Beaujolais and a Chenin Blanc.
Best known for its relaxed, family-style environment and music events held at the winery throughout the year.
