Run by Nick Buttitta, his daughter Livia, and son Paolo, Rosa d’Oro is rooted in family and old-world Italian traditions. Conveniently, the Buttittas’ next-door neighbor is the Rosa d’Oro winery, and their vineyards twist around the adjacent structures so that every aspect of winemaking comes from the same source: home. In fact, with such a distinct vision passed down through three generations of winemakers, it is the Buttitta family alone that prunes, picks, crushes, bottles, and labels this vision, which results in rich reds whose flavors seemingly burst out of the volcanic vent where the vineyards are sited. With Primitivo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Aglianico, Nebbiolo Rosato, as well as an extra virgin olive oil comprising their collection, the Buttittas are specialists in Italian flavors.
In line with his appreciation for family tradition and historical integrity, Nick situated the Rosa d’Oro tasting room just a mile away from home in one of the oldest buildings in the charming downtown area of Kelseyville. The building was built in the early 1900s, and the Rosa d’Oro décor, which includes a walnut bar handcrafted by father and son, only compliments the antique structure. Even the bank’s old vault still plays a part — housing the tasting room gift shop.
