Hog Island Oyster Company was founded in 1983 by three marine biologists who shared a love of the ocean, a passion for quality seafood and oddly unique skills in marine aquaculture. Creating the freshest oyster experience in California was their dream. To accomplish this they set about raising premium quality oysters in Tomales Bay and delivering their product direct to restaurants in the Bay Area, envisioning that someday they would have their own oyster bars. In November of 2003, Hog Island Oyster Co. launched their first Hog Island Oyster Bar in San Francisco’s historic Ferry Plaza Market. A perfect location to pop a few oysters, take in the majestic view of San Francisco Bay and indulge in the Bay Area’s wide array of local, organic farmer stands. And in 2008, Hog Island opened their second Hog Island Oyster Bar in Napa in the Oxbow Public Market. Fresh oysters pair beautifully with California wines! Now oyster lover’s can taste the freshest oyster experience at the Hog Island Oyster Farm in Marshall, on Tomales Bay; the Hog Island Oyster Bar in San Francisco in the Ferry Plaza Market; or the Hog Island Oyster Bar in Napa, in the heart of wine country!
Hog Island Oyster Company is an independent company dedicated to producing fresh, premium quality oysters and shellfish raised in a sustainable and environmentally beneficial manner.
