Marin Farmers Markets

Marin Farmers Markets

The Marin Farmers Markets are two of Marin Agricultural Institute’s 9 farmers markets in the Bay Area. Marin Agricultural Institute (MAI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to promote a viable food system, to educate the public about the benefits of buying fresh and locally grown food, and to bring farmers and communities together.

MAI represents over 500 family farms, specialty food purveyors, and local artisans and operates nine markets in the Bay area, five in Marin County (Sunday and Thursday Marin Civic Center, Marin City, Novato and Fairfax) three in Alameda County (Oakland-Grand Lake, Newark and Hayward), and one in San Francisco (Stonestown).”

Hours Open: See their website for hours at various markets

Seasons Open: Year round and seasonal

Eco-Friendly Notes
MAI extends the reach of local food out into the community by delivering fresh fruits and vegetables to local schools, corporate cafeterias, and restaurants through its local distribution program, Farm to Fork, hosting market tours for schools and neighborhood groups, and offering EBT (food stamp) services at all of their markets.
