Smiley’s Schooner Saloon & Hotel
Just West of the infamous San Andreas fault on the edge of the continent is Bolinas, a well-hidden enclave of artists, writers, musicians, fishermen and just plain folks. Although the community does not promote tourism, there are a limited number of guest accommodations available. One is Smiley’s Schooner Saloon and Hotel established in 1851.
A walk through the village is a must. There are shops, art galleries, a museum and two restaurants in an unusually beautiful setting. Just a block away and you’re walking on the beach. Bolinas Lagoon, Point Reyes National Seashore and Pacific Flyway seem to be just around the corner.
West Marin offers many outdoor activities including swimming, fishing, surfing, boating, hiking, hang gliding, golf and horseback riding, all just minutes from Bolinas. The hotel staff will be glad to assist with any arrangements necessary for the aforementioned pursuits or answer any other questions you may have.
